Western Conifer Seed Bug Leptoglossus occidentalis, Weybourne, Norfolk, 28th October 2009 (Brenda Gough).  This alien beasty from western North America was first reported in Italy in 1999 and has spread across the continent and now arrived in Britain. It is considered a pest of over 30 species of conifer tree and sightings should be reported to DEFRA.

Sowerby's Beaked Whale, Blakeney Point, 13th August 2009 (Richard Porter). This rare animal was found beached but alive near the end of Blakeney Point. It was bleeding a little from a wound on its underside, but it was successfully helped back to sea without delay and swam off strongly and gratefully! It was seen to blow at least three times before it was lost from view about 500 yards out.
