Tawny Mining Bee, Gun Hill, Burnham Overy, Norfolk, 16th September 2006 (John Furse).

Southern Hawker Dragonfly, Kelling Quag, 15th September 2006 (John Miller).

Hummingbird Hawkmoth, Wells Woods Dell, Norfolk, 6th August 2006 (Steve Gantlett). Passerine migration has not yet started: this was the only bird we saw!

Silver-washed Fritillary, Natural Surroundings, Glandford, 27th July 2006 (Steve Gantlett). This may be only the second documented record of Silver-washed Fritillary for Norfolk of modern times, following one seen and photographed on a thistle bed near Sparham Pools by Stewart Betts et al. for about three days around 9th August 1995. No less than 20 species of butterflies were at Natural Surroundings today and yesterday, including this, the two scarce species immediately below, and White Admiral.

Large Red-eyed Damselfly, Holkham Park Lake, Norfolk, 14th July 2006 (Mick Green). There appeared to be three of these on a yellow lily pad at the north end of the lake.

Water Shrew, Cley, 10th July 2006 (Steve Gantlett). This little chappy was evidently building a nest under the boardwalk where it meets Teal Hide or whatever it's called nowadays.

Glow-worm, Norwich, 8th July 2006 (Richard Millington). In a Norwich garden - a wingless female hanging upside down and glowing brightly to attract the winged male beetle.

Garden Tiger Moth, Cley, 2nd July 2006 (Steve Gantlett). The first of the year.

Eyed Hawkmoth, Cley, 2nd July 2006 (Steve Gantlett). The best numbers of hawkmoths are past their peak now for another year.

Grizzled Skipper, Foulden Common, Norfolk, 10th June 2006 (Matthew Rodgers). A single specimen found in this interesting, remote part of Norfolk.

Broad-bordered Bee Hawkmoth, Kelling, Norfolk, 4th June 2006 (Andy Booth). In the garden of the cottage at the start of the track leading to Kelling Water Meadows at about 10.00am.

Green Hairstreak on Bluebell, Kelling Heath, 17th May 2006 (Steve Gantlett)

Dingy Skipper, Narborough Railway, Norfolk, 13th May 2006 (Matthew Rodgers). Not the brightest of butterflies, but one of the first to look for in spring.
